I'm Just a Bebop Baby

My brother had the opening night of his play on Friday and I had just watched Cry-Baby for the first time EVER, so I was feeling TONS of '50s/drapey vibes!

Earrings: GirlProps
Dress: Etsy
Tights: Wal-Mart
Purse: thrifted
Cardigan: Forever 21
Shoes: Pleaser

I've been feeling awful lately, and dressing up like a QUEEN is the bestest thing ever. DRESS-UP EVERYDAY AND WEAR THINGS YOU LOVE. It will forever make you feel like a 100% BABE.

These glasses were TOTALLY carrying on the '50s ~vibez~!

I did just about THE BEST BEEHIVE EVER (hence all these weird pictures trying to capture it's MAJESTY). It was tall and big and I was super proud of myself! I think almost everyone I saw tried to touch it (INCLUDING THIS ROGUE TREE BRANCH WHICH COULD HAVE RUINED ME).

My favorite compliment-y type thing I got on this outfit (I REALLY ACTUALLY CONSIDER THIS A COMPLIMENT) was when this really exclusive looking group of middle-schoolers STARED AT ME in horror/wonderment. THE MOST PERFECT MOMENT EVER, GUYS. I've always dreamed some smelly 7th graders would stare me down with disgust, but usually they just ignore me and talk about how cool Justin Bieber is or something.

So, spring break is coming up and I am SO SUPER STOKED! March has been busy and lazy (BUT SPRING-Y AND SUNNY, TOO!) and I've got a ton of stuff I'm gonna do and blog posts I'm actually gonna post over break! YAY! I'm seriously gonna (try to) be productive and ~creative~, so KEEP YOUR SELVES ON THE LOOK OUT.

If y'all remember, I was nominated for the Liebster Award about a GAZILLION times (IT WAS LIKE 10, BUT IT FELT LIKE A MILLION, OKAY?) back in January, but I've recently been nominated for The Versatile Blogger Award by KEWTIE PIE BBY Sinead of Peppermint Whiskers, and by the stunning and super cool Ellie of Rose and Vintage! Since they were so AMAZINGLY nice in nominating me, I thought I'd SHARE DA LOVE <3
So, the rules are to share some facts about yourself, and then nominate seven other bloggers! Okay, so here are mah facts:

1. My ultimate ~DREAM JOB~ is to be a writer, specifically a poet.
2. I procrastinate to a like, really ridiculous level.
3. I write/draw/create stuff for the fantabulously incredible Wandering Collective.
4. I am secretly a princess named Muffins who rides a unicorn around my kingdom.
5. The last fact was a lie.
6. NOW, for reals, my family used to have dogs name Simba and D.O.G.
7. I am sitting in a chair that is over 100-years-old.
8. Nick Jonas was my biggest crush ever when I was 10 (I AM STILL NICK'S ONLY LOVE OKAY).

SO! The seven bloggers I nominate are:
Have fun with this babes! <3

Super kewt picture of me SHOWING YOU GUYS THE LOVE
Thank you guys so much! I can't believe so many of you darlings have decided to read/look at my pictures and art and writing. I started this blog not really knowing what I was gonna do, and knowing people (might?) actually like what I post is super cool and great AND THANKS SO MUCH TO EVERYONE! <3

It's Getting Spring-y But The Weekend Ends Too Soon

February is over!
It was actually a pretty ~groovy~ month, but everything felt so BUSY and weird. The beginning of this year has been PROCRASTINATION NATION, so I guess my New Year's resolution hasn't really worked very well? ANYWAYS, I'm hoping March will mark the total return to THE BLOGOSPHERE, talking to other bloggers, making new posts, etc. I've got some really rad stuff for you guys this month (INTERVIEWS! DIYs!) so let's say a little prayer that this is gonna be the most productive blogging month yet! MOVING ON, here is a peek at my life during the last few weeks:

Shirt: thrifted
Cardigan: thrifted
Earrings: Girl Props
This outfit was really sweet and cool, which was great because I was exhausted and actually didn't feel sweet/cool much AT ALL. CLOTHES MAKE ME FEEL GOOD, OK??

Pictures of the moon are my favoritest thing ever.

I looked really adorable and Vickie-ish and '70s. I've come to appreciate that these glasses might be the closest I'll ever get to Vickie's shades in my life.

ALL MY BABIES (John is lookin' so fine in the back)
From Tumblr
I watched Pink Flamingos a week ago, AND IT WAS THE BESTEST THING EVER. I spent the next day trying to find  a nail polish that matched Connie's hair/nails/everything and Babs'/Cotton's PERFECT lipstick. I'm definitely gonna be doing a whole ~inspiration~ post based on amazingness of the whole movie, so keep a look out!

This was the most Connie Marble-like nail polish I found in my house! It gets super red in some lights and is PERFECT. It's Piggy Paint, which is natural and really awesome. It obviously doesn't last as long as really chemical-y nail polish, but if you blow dry it and put on a couple of coats, it lasts for a pretty long time and is SUPER RAD (Piggy Paint also comes in the CUTEST colors ever and basically melts my heart with love <3)
My brother and I went to the thrift store (I AM 100% JELLO OF HIS LEATHER) and there was this huge, super trashed limo there that said "HAPPY 50th BIRTHDAY SHARON" in really sad paint. Duh, we had to get a picture.

I thrifted all these super FAB records a while back! I've added 3 of my darling goddess Janis Ian's records to my collection, a '70s Sounds of The Woodstock Age record ("Knock Three Times" OHMYGOD), an Eydie Gorme Greatest Hits record ("Blame it on The Bossa Nova" is on there and I feel like I'm living in Mermaids. Life goal completed), and a Crystal Gayle record (mostly for pretty aesthetic purposes).

Lately I've been obsessed with putting on make-up and lounging in robes (YES, I AM A '50s MOVIE STAR).

Sunglasses: Ross (???)
Sweater: thrifted

This outfit RULED. My hair was kind of ratted and I was wearing my new pink lipstick, and I TOTALLY felt like a cross between Hipsville  and some badass '60s girl-gang member.

This is THE BEST PICTURE EVER, for the obvious reasons that it was me at like, the best/worst possible moment to take a picture and I kind of look like a spacey alien wearing cool lipstick.

"LOVE" ring: Forever 21
Heart ring: vintage
Braclets: DIY'd
My hands looked amazing and ~cosmic~ and *mystical* that day.

We had a crazy amazingly GORGEOUS sunset the other day! It felt so summer-y and I was insanely happy. My mind is just chanting SUMMER, PLS COME QUICKLY BEFORE I DIE over and over again now!

And, FINALLY, SPRING IS COMING! The days have been sunnier and warmer, and I.AM.IN.LOVE. My family and I took a hike (this weekend was so so so fab, guys) and there was sunlight everywhere! PERFECT? Perfect.

Sniffle Sniffle.Bleurgh.Sniff.Wahhhh.Ugh.Sigh.

Today I finished the journal I've had from the summer of 2011 till today. Although I generally keep like, 10 different notebooks at a time, I always have one central place where I write MY DEEPEST, DARKEST SECRETS and TRIUMPHS.
I got this journal on a trip when I was 12, just on the brink of being 13. It was in a Wal-Mart we stopped at, and I had been searching for my ~DREAMBOAT JOURNAL~ since I had finished my last one that May. It was rad: pink stripes on the cover. 400 pages or something. I saw potential: potential decorations, potential feelings, potential writing genius (at this time in my life, I hoped my journal would sound like Anne Frank and Sylvia Plath. NEWS FLASH! I'm not that genius. It probably sounds more like a budding teenager who tried to be like, really intelligent and stuff but more sounded like a pretentious 13-year-old.)
I kept writing in it from the days of our trip until now. When you've had something that you've expressed all your anger and happiness and sad, sad tears in, finishing it is like having a friend move away or watching the last Harry Potter movie for the 100th time (don't even come near me after that happens).
When I was 12, I loved really old black and white movies. I had been, for many years, heavily obsessed (still am) with '80s movies, and my deep love for vintage clothing had started to really blossom a year or so before. The Beatles were my life, I loved being right in every argument, I loved learning new words, and I didn't even HAVE a Tumblr.

I can't even remember WHEN I collaged this, which much means it was forever ago! It reflected my favorite things at the time: The Beatles (especially "All My Loving"), vintage stuff, Johnny Depp, Sylvia Plath. This really cool vintage shoe was once glued on there, but it tore off and then I lost it. This whole cover has been torn and re-glued a million times,  A TRUE SIGN OF LOVE.

Twelve, thirteen, and fourteen are all funny ages. When you're pissed off, or feeling really down, or blissfully happy, or super lonely, you feel like there will, never, ever, ever be another moment where you'll feel any different. Life seems like it will always be the same feeling, the same story. As I've learned, life ebbs and flows: one day, you'll love early Beatles' music, and the next you'll be experimenting with the sounds of Grimes. Looking over this journal, I've learned that. Sometimes, I'll read about a petty situation that ruined my whole day and think of how stupid it is. Other times, I'll read about a time when I was in a pit of sadness and never thought I would ever get out and realize: life changes, all the time.

Holdin' on to my baby <3
When you've been through so much, so many hurts and great moments with something, it's especially important for you. The end of you two together, of that whole part of your life is especially hard.

That being said, I.HATE.ENDINGS. Whether it's Harry Potter, or the last performance of the play I'm in, or  the end of a movie, or the end of a journal, I will almost always bawl my eyes out at endings. I have a spiritual connection to my favorite movies, my past experiences. The endings of them, even if I can watch that moment on my TV screen again and again, is like the ending of my world. Change has always been something that's hard for me, but my journal has taught me I'm allowed to change.

I'm just starting to decorate this Bette Page journal I got for Christmas from Zazzle. I just put the best gold tinsel on it! UGH, SPARKLES!

I went on a bike ride today, and there were birds chirping and blinding sunlight streaming onto the pavement of the road. It was perfect; it was a dawning. It almost felt like the world speaking to me. Even though this is the end of something, it's the beginning of something new, it seemed to say. As I've learned from my own journal, life is an ever changing, ever moving tide, and this is just a part of it.
