Personal Style Icon: Majorettes

What is a majorette, you may ask?
"A majorette is a person doing choreographed dance or movement, primarily baton twirling associated with marching bands during parades."
Basically, majorettes are kick ass (I actually have never seen a real life majorette, so maybe you are one and you're reading this and you're like "It's not kick ass, trust me!" If so, TELL ME!! Educate me on the ways of the majorettes!) ladies who twirl batons and (quoting Wiki again here) "also twirl knives, fire knives, flags, light-up batons, and fire batons. They do illusions, cartwheels, and flips, and sometimes twirl up to four batons at a time."
LIKE, WHOA!! Isn't the coolest thing you ever heard of?!?! 
I went to cheer-leading camp for 3 years when I was a little cutie baby, and LEMME TELL YOU, we did some crazy stuff, BUT WE DID NOT TWIRL FIRE KNIVES. 
PLUS, majorettes are my personal style icons. THE BOOTS. THE SKIRTS. THE FUZZY HAT THINGS.

Hellllooo everyone.
So, I'm sick THE DAY BEFORE Halloween. Yeah, I'm feeling like crap and I don't want to do anything because being sick sucks, and not knowing if you will be too sick on an important funtimes day totally sucks.

Anyways, I AM LONGING to wear pretty things, because I'm just loungin' in my PJs feeling like my head is going to explode.
At the current moment, I really want new clothes or something new that I can work with.
I am desperately wanting to buy some patterned '60's skirts/vintage white blouses like the ones Tracy wears in Hairspray (1988).
(I couldn't find any other pictures of old Tracy because the internet sucks.)

AH SHE'S SO PERFECT I WANT TO DIE. I am gonna have to do some major clothing searches so I can steal her identity.
Now I want to sleep and pray I am well enough to consume copious amounts of candy.

So, I made my first-ever Polyvore set! I've had an account for about 2 months, and never actually made anything. SO HERE IT IS.

I really want to get into beatnik stuff, and whenever I think "beatnik", I always think Pia Zadora as the beatnik in Hairspray!
She is talks about Odetta and  recites "Howl" and is just totally groovacious.

AND, in this Pia-filled, beatnik soul-search, I also realized that Polyvore is super fun. I'll probably make it a weekly feature to show a Polyvore set with a character/theme of my choice. I hope everyone enjoys!

This summer has been crazy amazing, and there is soooo much to write about, so I'll take it post by post, y'all.
First, though...
I SAW Reality Bites.
OH MY GOD.
Yahhhh, it's kind of like one of the best movies ever. I love the feeling, the fashion, the '90s-ness, Lelaina, Troy, Sammy, VICIKIE!
Can we just ogle at the cast? Ethan Hawke, Winona Ryder, I ALMOST PEED MYSELF.
And, OHEMGEE, VICKIE!
I want to be Vickie. SHE IS SO DANG COOL. Seriously, where did she learn to be that cool? (the script writers, I know).
She is influencing my style in EEVVVVEERRYY way, and so everything she wears is making my birthday list.
AND SHE LOVE'S THE '70s.
AND SHE LOVES "My Sharona".

I will be getting those tights. And those shoes. And those glasses. And those...

Now I love Squeeze.

I DIDN'T EVEN REALIZE SHE WEARS THIS DRESS. OHEMGEEEEEEEEE, HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS???

Outfit #1

My mom had to go run errands yesterday, so I got dressed up, knowing I'd be too lazy to do so otherwise.

I finally used some of this sample from BL Soaps that I got with my purchase back in November. It's a really lovely green, and I had never worn it out before. It made my eyes SUPER green (because when I wear different colors my eye colors change? I don't know), and it was awesome :)

I used some put cover up on my lips (using cover up as lipstick will rock your socks) and then took my pink stuff and put it on. It makes this really fantastic '60s-ish color.
And now my sister is back from camp so I can steal her awesome Hard Candy eyeliner again.

This shirt is DEFINITELY one of the best purchases I have ever made... I feel like I belong in Iona's apartment, because of the stunning '50s Chinese influence.

I wish I had more skirts/pants rather than just JEANS, but okay, whatevs. Jeans are still pretty cool (I got this lesson today while reading this article on Rookie... I think I'm maybe just a 'lil obsessed with how much I AM IN LOVE with that website. 4 realz).
