She's Got The Devil in Her Heart

Hey babes!
So, lately I've been in a ~photography~ kind of mood-- and I've feeling inspired by Ryan Hancock and this Tavi post. When I was writing down stuff that describes this inspiration/feeling/look that's been goin' on, I put down "candid scary youth vibes", which pretty much explains it all. There's that very candid photographic look I was going for, like the weirdness of everyday life mixed with the kind of scary, decaying, angsty youth that permeates movies and teenage emotions alike, mixed with a bit of Virgin Suicides-esque '70s wood panel nostalgic drama and bright pops of color.
One of the best examples of this kind of feeling is the David Lynch-y, Twin Peaks vibes I was talking about in my last post. Everything looks wholesome and wonderful at first glance, but you can feel something is not right. Underneath this pretty surface is a seedy, decaying underworld. I've been trying to capture this in the pictures I've been taking, and here are the results!

Tell me: who are your current photography crushes and inspirations? I'd love to check out whoever you darlings suggest!

Style Queens

Hey guys!
So, I've been seeing a lot of SUPER CUTE RAD QUEENS on the internet lately, and since looking at style goddesses is THE WAY to find more rad inspo, so I thought I'd share some of my faves I've been seeing lately!

Style and Delinquency
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the kind of demented school spirit vibes here! Plus star stickers are my fave forever. Eleanor's blog is also my NEW FAVE FOREVA. She's so unique and has the raddest hair and the best clothes! How could you not want to be her?!

Cheetah and plaid together are the absolute cutest. Ibe is the ultimate ~STYLE DREAMBOAT~, of course, and I am dying for a red rose flower crown like hers! One of the reasons I love this is that there are lots of patterns (floral, cheetah, plaid) goin' on, but Ibe makes it look like it came out of  the closet of the gods.

It Girl, Rag Doll
Blue eye-shadow is killing me right now. Plus high-waisted bell bottoms are all my hopes and fantasies combined into one.

The Mad Mod
Tessa's retro/'50s Hollywood look is KILLING ME. Ascots, beehives and plaid pants? THIS MUST BE MY DREAMS.

Rose and Vintage
Ellie literally kills this outfit. She is perfect. I love the tights with the plaid and also the platforms (I WILL DIE FOR PLATFORMS PLSSS), and all the reds. This kind of screams Twin Peaks mixed with cool '70s queen and I LOVE IT.

Hipsville
I want Luna's rad as hell crushed velvet dress. And her pins. And her hair. And her sense of I-Don't-Careeeee FREENESS. MAYBE I JUST WANT TO BE LUNA?? I can't even tell, guys.

The Hefty Hideaway
Nicole is the actual best. Those saddle shoes paired with her stunning cat-eye glasses and AMAZING bowling-esque shirt are makin' me cry! I walk a fine line between insane jealousy of her impeccable style and going to tears of love when looking at her, guys.

As you can tell, I'm kind of obsessed with plaids right now and autumn-ish reds, but my main ~dreams~ are all of taking road trips and wearing '70s platforms and driving in the sun and going through deserts and past mountains. I've been thinking a lot of all the things I've done and places I've been and I miss it all, so it's definitely manifesting itself in my inspiration.

Also-- I did my first ever actual post on The Pulp Zine! It's called I Need a Hero and it's basically me and the queen of the internet, Aja, talking about some of our IDOLS with cute collages by us! I did two more (Tracy and Winona) but the above were my two faves of the ones I did. It's super cool and I'm so excited for it to be my first post!

Finally, the cutest coolest musical SUPERSTAR (I love her, okay) Sinead did this new song called "Sad Gurlz are Rad Gurlz" and IT IS PERFECT. I've been chanting it in my head the past few days, and everyone should check it out and sing it like the rad gurl they are!

Did You Hear They Got Pinned?

Right after I had made my Easter beehive, I totally felt the need to make an impromptu photo shoot! It was just me in my room and I was trying to capture all these Bye Bye Birdie, '60s gossipy sleepover ~vibez~. (It's like the one year annsiversary of when I first saw it (IT'S LIKE THE BEST MOVIE EVER?? GRRR I LOVE IT SO MUCH) so I'm feeling all nostalgic). Imagine beehives and Elvis records in the background and pink rotary phones and swooning over hunks while talking about how Brad and Janet (Rocky Horror reference, duh) got pinned and are finally going steady! The Beatles shirt is from Hottopic a few years ago, the nightgown was my great-grandmas, and the Movie Teen magazine is from Etsy. OH, and listen to this, of course, to get in ultimate '60s sleepover mode!

Now ou guys all invited to a virtual slumber party where we dress up in old gowns and listen to Bobby Rydell, duh.

It's Getting Spring-y But The Weekend Ends Too Soon

FINALLY!
February is over!
It was actually a pretty ~groovy~ month, but everything felt so BUSY and weird. The beginning of this year has been PROCRASTINATION NATION, so I guess my New Year's resolution hasn't really worked very well? ANYWAYS, I'm hoping March will mark the total return to THE BLOGOSPHERE, talking to other bloggers, making new posts, etc. I've got some really rad stuff for you guys this month (INTERVIEWS! DIYs!) so let's say a little prayer that this is gonna be the most productive blogging month yet! MOVING ON, here is a peek at my life during the last few weeks:

Shirt: thrifted
Cardigan: thrifted
Earrings: Girl Props
This outfit was really sweet and cool, which was great because I was exhausted and actually didn't feel sweet/cool much AT ALL. CLOTHES MAKE ME FEEL GOOD, OK??

Pictures of the moon are my favoritest thing ever.

I looked really adorable and Vickie-ish and '70s. I've come to appreciate that these glasses might be the closest I'll ever get to Vickie's shades in my life.

ALL MY BABIES (John is lookin' so fine in the back)
From Tumblr
I watched Pink Flamingos a week ago, AND IT WAS THE BESTEST THING EVER. I spent the next day trying to find  a nail polish that matched Connie's hair/nails/everything and Babs'/Cotton's PERFECT lipstick. I'm definitely gonna be doing a whole ~inspiration~ post based on amazingness of the whole movie, so keep a look out!

This was the most Connie Marble-like nail polish I found in my house! It gets super red in some lights and is PERFECT. It's Piggy Paint, which is natural and really awesome. It obviously doesn't last as long as really chemical-y nail polish, but if you blow dry it and put on a couple of coats, it lasts for a pretty long time and is SUPER RAD (Piggy Paint also comes in the CUTEST colors ever and basically melts my heart with love <3)
My brother and I went to the thrift store (I AM 100% JELLO OF HIS LEATHER) and there was this huge, super trashed limo there that said "HAPPY 50th BIRTHDAY SHARON" in really sad paint. Duh, we had to get a picture.

I thrifted all these super FAB records a while back! I've added 3 of my darling goddess Janis Ian's records to my collection, a '70s Sounds of The Woodstock Age record ("Knock Three Times" OHMYGOD), an Eydie Gorme Greatest Hits record ("Blame it on The Bossa Nova" is on there and I feel like I'm living in Mermaids. Life goal completed), and a Crystal Gayle record (mostly for pretty aesthetic purposes).

Lately I've been obsessed with putting on make-up and lounging in robes (YES, I AM A '50s MOVIE STAR).

Sunglasses: Ross (???)
Sweater: thrifted

This outfit RULED. My hair was kind of ratted and I was wearing my new pink lipstick, and I TOTALLY felt like a cross between Hipsville  and some badass '60s girl-gang member.

This is THE BEST PICTURE EVER, for the obvious reasons that it was me at like, the best/worst possible moment to take a picture and I kind of look like a spacey alien wearing cool lipstick.

"LOVE" ring: Forever 21
Heart ring: vintage
Braclets: DIY'd
My hands looked amazing and ~cosmic~ and *mystical* that day.

We had a crazy amazingly GORGEOUS sunset the other day! It felt so summer-y and I was insanely happy. My mind is just chanting SUMMER, PLS COME QUICKLY BEFORE I DIE over and over again now!

And, FINALLY, SPRING IS COMING! The days have been sunnier and warmer, and I.AM.IN.LOVE. My family and I took a hike (this weekend was so so so fab, guys) and there was sunlight everywhere! PERFECT? Perfect.

♡ Love is All Around Us♡

~*HEY BABES*~
Valentine's Day was actually really RAD, and was basically filled with chocolate and candy hearts and great food.
I was still feeling all these ~SOFT PASTEL CANDY HEART~ colorz, so I took some pictures based on love and hearts and pink and anything else that I felt was LOVEY-DOVEY.
♡ ENJOY♡ DEARS♡
