Personal Style Icon: Majorettes

What is a majorette, you may ask?
"A majorette is a person doing choreographed dance or movement, primarily baton twirling associated with marching bands during parades."
Basically, majorettes are kick ass (I actually have never seen a real life majorette, so maybe you are one and you're reading this and you're like "It's not kick ass, trust me!" If so, TELL ME!! Educate me on the ways of the majorettes!) ladies who twirl batons and (quoting Wiki again here) "also twirl knives, fire knives, flags, light-up batons, and fire batons. They do illusions, cartwheels, and flips, and sometimes twirl up to four batons at a time."
LIKE, WHOA!! Isn't the coolest thing you ever heard of?!?!
I went to cheer-leading camp for 3 years when I was a little cutie baby, and LEMME TELL YOU, we did some crazy stuff, BUT WE DID NOT TWIRL FIRE KNIVES.
PLUS, majorettes are my personal style icons. THE BOOTS. THE SKIRTS. THE FUZZY HAT THINGS.

Hopefully you get as inspired by them as I am

Candy Beehive

Sunglasses: Ross (?)
Blouse: thrifted
Cardigan: Forever 21
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt
Shoes: hand-me-down Converse

I wore this to go see The Hobbit (pretty good) a few weeks back. I am still OBVS feeling the ~*GIRL GANG*~ vibes, and so I did a supa lopsided beehive (I WAS RUSHED OKAY GUYS) and wore my jeans high waisted with a letterman's cardigan. My parents bought us candy beforehand, AND THEY BOUGHT CANDY BRACELETS, so I totes wore mine, so I could feel like I was Rayanne.

Christmas Haul

Hello, darling readers!
I hope you all had a wonderful (belated) Christmas/holidays, AND GOT EVERYTHING YOU ASKED SANTA FOR.

I got some of the BEST PRESENTS EVER (THANKS PARENTS, SIBLINGS, RELATIVES AND SANTA), and I'm still in the ~Holiday daze~ where I keep my presents on my desk and stare at them in wonderment.

I put everything I got down below in my first Christmas present-y post EVER!
Hope you enjoy!

MY RECORDS!
Hairspray soundtrack, The Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack, Janis Ian's Between the Lines, and Shannon and the Clam's I Wanna Go Home

The Vintage Book of African American Poetry, The Collected Poems of Sara Teasdale, Weetzie Bat by Francesca Lia Block, Who Really Cares by Janis Ian

Intimate Story (super trashy '60s magazine which is actually my favoritest thing ever now), Found Magazine (other favoritest thing ever), The Rocky Horror Official Poster Mag (ANOTHER ACTUALLY FAVORITEST THING EVER)

Vintage pin that was a surprise from a relative, and Tracy necklace from Flamingo Cupcake (DNESHJW[P[]R HEARTS IN MY EYES)

Both of these are from Girlprops. The cockroach ones totes match my Tracy Necklace, which just makes me feel like a TEEN LEADER who has the BUG.
Two Hairspray quotes in one, I'M ON A ROLL, GUYS.

My mom got all these rad pins, and we all know PINS ARE MY LOVES <3 THEY'RE ALL SO PERFECT.
The top one is  a wedding photo I found on Zazzle, and the next one is from my grandparent's wedding ('nother Zazzle pin). The tattoo one is from Zazzle as well, all the Rocky Horror ones are from Etsy, and the other two are both from Zazzle (the first one is of Jules at the Dum Dum Girls concert I went to, and the second is my grandparent's wedding again.)

Bettie Page notebook from Zazzle, vintage '60s daily diary from Etsy (YESYESYES) and notepad from Zazzle that has my grandparent's wedding picture on it, but right now it's covered in my doodles.

Crayola Twistables (I REALLY LOVE THEM, OKAY), an Anne Taintor pen, and a camera pen that ~FLASHES~.

New We Love Colors tights! These replaced the ones I ripped when I gracefully fell into a hole and then hit my shoulder on a road sign.

Hunx Hairdresser Blues comb and a totally groovy tin box my AWESOME BROTHAS got me.

I got this really pretty OPI nail polish collection from a relative <3

AHHH NEW SHOES!
They look all dirty and gross in this picture, but it's cause I had literally just worn them. They're Pleaser and white and pretty and make me feel like I'm from Hairspray.

A plaid dress from Etsy that Santa gave me.

Another Etsy dress!

And one more (THEY'RE ALL SO BEAUTIFUL GUYS, I'M JUST TOO TIRED TO TALK ABOUT THEIR BEAUTY)

A very cool postcard from Zazzle, for my wall.

MORE ANNE TAINTOR STUFF! (yayayayayay!)

Hairspray POSTER! AHHHHHH!

AND A Mermaids POSTER! *Cue Hillary Duff singing "What Dreams Are Made Of"*

...And this was me on Christmas day. Ehhhh, the holiday's are great, exhausting fun, aren't they?

Now it's almost a new year, and I have a few posts lined up for the next few days!

Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree

OMG IT'S CHRISTMAS EVE, OMG IT'S CHRISTMAS EVE, OMG IT'S CHRISTMAS EVE. I have been waiting for tomorrow ALL YEAR AND IT'S FINALLY HERE!!!! GUYSI'MSOEXITED!

Anyways, we actually decorated our tree a few weeks ago, but I decided to save the pictures until now so you guys could feel the ~HOLIDAY VIBES~ I'm feeling.

We have a whole bunch of ornaments from my mom's '70s/'80s childhood, and we have a whole bunch that belonged to my great-grandparents from the '30s/'40s/'50s. They're all awesome and beautiful, but here are my absolute favorite ornaments from our tree <3 ENJOY~

These ornaments are really old ('30s? '40s? '50s?) and super small, so we don't actually hang them on the tree, but check out how pretty they are! AND THE BOX! It is seriously perfect.

One of my FAVORITE ORNAMENT! '70s fat baby-ish Santa riding a GLITTER HORSE?! I think we all know IT WAS MADE FOR ME.

'60s or '70s GLITTER MOUSE. Ugh, I love glittered holiday shit.

This is so absolutely PERFECT/GORGEOUS. It's a circa '50s clear ornament that has a little piece of multi-colored TINSEL inside. YESTINSELINSIDEOMGI'MDEAD

HOLY GOD, I LOVE THIS ONE SO MUCH. It's from around the '30s or '40s (my guess) AND LOOKS LIKE A BIRD. WITH A FURRY TAIL THING. GUYS, IT'S RAD.

Another PWETTY SHINY ONE from the '30s to '50s.

MORE TINSEL INSIDE ICAN'TBREATH

My grandma actually made this one and the next one in the '70s, and they ARE SO RAD.

Another one from the '40s or '50s. GOLD AND GLITTER AND CAT EYE THINGS YES YES YES.

Moreeee of my little mousy babe.

The tree!

 Santa hat: unknown
Shirt: hand-me-down from grandma (I wear my grandma's clothes YEAH)
Skirt: thrifted

Of course I got dressed up, BECAUSE TREAT YO SELF. Then my brother took some weird pictures where my eyes are all closed BUT I LOOKED RAD.

~oooh I'm looking cool~

I also thrifted this Aretha's Gold record a few days ago, WHICH IS SO PERFECT AND PRETTY AJEKJFNEJK. I paired it with my ~rad tinsel~ my mom got me, which I'm actually going to hang in my room after the holidays <3

Have a rad and merry Christmas!
